Summary

150 HP modified 150L with 6060 TT and 477 Hr SMOH on engine and climb prop. This plane was purchased by its donor 40 years ago because he relocated and did not have access to a tow plane for his glider. So he purchased this 150 and proceeded to modify it for towing with these mods: 150 HP & prop, Heavy Duty nose LDG, Cuffed Leading Edge, VGs, Shoulder Harnesses, Tow Hook, Pulselight Wing Tip Lights, Spin On Filter and Vernier Mixture Control. He also placed it in the Restricted Airworthiness category. In more recent years, the donor sold his glider but kept the 150/150 for fun flying (he removed the tow hook),

In 2023, it was donated to us and we flew it from TX to our base in MO. We wanted to move it back into Standard Airworthiness but the FAA pointed out that the Leading Edge Cuff STC was not approved for greater than 100 HP. So, we either had to swap the engine back to 100 HP or swap the wings to get a set without Leading Edge Cuffs. We found a 150L owner who agreed with swapping the wings. We’ve completed the wing swap, completed the Annual and got it moved back to Standard Airworthiness (so no Leading Edge Cuff, VGs or Tow Hook anymore).

The 150/150 is now ready to go with a low time engine, new windshield, updated upholstery, carpeting and painted interior plastic. In its current setup, it climbs super well, however cruise speed is not that great. Perfect to use as a glider or banner tow plane but you’ll need to install a tow hook. If interested in more speed, you could swap to a cruise prop. The negatives on the plane are is exterior paint (poor condition, but plastic fairings are in good condition), no ADS-B, no GPS and lower Useful Load (only 388 lbs).
